Thrive! is designed to help build a province where healthy eating and physical activity become part of our daily environment.
Most of us have heard that we need to “eat less and move more” to be healthy. Yet over the last few decades, our social and physical environments have changed in ways that promote the opposite behaviour.
The status quo is not working: Nova Scotia’s rates of obesity and preventable, chronic disease are rising.
The choices we make as individuals are shaped by the choices we have. Today, less healthy options outweigh the healthy ones.
We can shift that balance.
Thrive! calls on provincial government, municipalities, publically funded institutions such as universities, health authorities, school boards; child care settings, recreation and community organizations, and others to work together at a policy level to achieve the ultimate goal of healthier Nova Scotians.
